Cheap Camping is Easy !

Posted on: September 1, 2011

Hello. I have been camping a few times over the last year and I really enjoy it. The freedom and the sites and places that you can visit make camping a really exciting way to get out and about. I personally started camping at a very young age. I joined Scouts when I was 8 and have been camping on and off ever since.

Camping is not very expensive either as you can get on a campsite in the UK for around £4 if you look around in the off-peak season. That is another good thing I enjoy is that you do not necessarily have to go in the summer, it is equally exciting in the cooler months too. Last year I went camping in my tent at the end of October for a Halloween event inYorkshire. There is nothing like it to be snuggled in your tent, providing you have a warm sleeping bag of course, when it's cold outside.

You can get all the equipment that you need for camping for just over £100 and that is including the tent too! The basic equipment is

  • A tent, obviously
  • Airbed and a pump to inflate it
  • Sleeping bag

There are other stuff that you can get that are not essential but make it a easier nights sleep such as portable gas stove, Table and chairs, BBQ, Portable toilet, Heater but I do not want to go into these. I am mainly concentrating on advising on how cheap a camping trip can be. I love how easy financially camping is to get into and I think with the recession still here in the UK many families will be looking for cheaper holiday in the years to come.

If you are looking for a cheap campsite in the UK it maybe a good idea to visit a camping locations website like www.camp-sites.co.uk  This website lists camping for all areas of the Uk that you maybe planning on visiting.

The weather can sometimes be a concerning factor in the UK when camping. Last year I went with my tent to the east coast and it got really windy just as I was erecting my tent and I thought it would be ok. I was wrong. One of the carbon fibre poles snapped which resulted in me having to cut the trip short and go home. The site gave me my money back though so I hadn't lost all. I did however gain the experience to check the weather forecast before I go camping in future.

I hope that everyone who has not tried camping will get to try it out at least once in their lives and I hope that this article may make you think about it as a viable alternative in the future when we are all strapped for cash.
